We understand that market
knowledge and experience are only valuable if they help produce
real business results. We also understand that those results need
to be both short and long-term if they are to pay real dividends
for our clients. At IntellaBuy, when we source and negotiate
product purchases for resin and packaging buyers, our approach
takes this short-term/long-term dynamic into account. We produce
immediate results, but not at the expense of sacrificing respect
and long-term relationships with suppliers.
To achieve this
short-term/long-term task, and therefore maximize bottom-line
impact for our clients, we consider a wide range of variables in
addition to price in evaluating suppliers. We refer to this
concept as “supplier-fit”. These variables include:
- Quality- product,
systems, expertise;
- Service-responsiveness,
order systems, web-based support;
- Price-base price,
payment terms, price protection;
- Technical Support-
testing, pilot lines, resources;
- Ability to Supply-
lead time, protection, scheduling process;
- Product Mix- breadth,
fit, development focus and direction;
- Direction-growing/stable,
reinvesting, target customers.
In order to know these
things about suppliers, we must approach them as partners in the
process… and we do. By spending the time to learn about
suppliers’ businesses, we become a valuable conduit of
information between them and buyers, improving communication and
information flow. Plain and simple, we do not view negotiations as
a win or lose battle. We believe that “bottom-line” impact is
maximized when insight toward the needs of both parties is
employed in an expert fashion to create growth, efficiency, and
profit opportunities for all.
